Desdemona is a young woman lounging in her home on the island Cyprus in a time long ago. I created a corset that was 16th century based took liberties with the sheer sleeves for a more relaxed look. The stomacher is also a snap on/off to allow for a quick change.
Emilia is an older woman working under Desdemona's rule as her maid. I wanted her in plain clothing that could be reminiscent of a working uniform
Bianca is the young whore. The directors note was to create a woman that wants to be fashionable yet has no idea how. My co-designer ran with this idea as well as bringing in the concept that this is her one nice dress that she has been wearing forever. An ill-fitting corset: dyed then covered in trims and a teared skirt: distressed and covered in ruffles is what completed this look

Spring 2016
For the student directed one acts in Spring 2016 I co-designed two of the six One Acts performed. While co-designing I took the leadership role. I made sure to keep contact with the directors through out the design process while arranging all the fittings with the actors. I also pulled all the items from stock as first options then went through with my co-designer when picking the final pieces.
Knockers
This One Act is about a normal appearing family man entertaining the religious solicitors who knock on his door. However his compliance is nothing but a ruse to stop solicitors from coming to his and his husbands door.
The director wanted the solicitors to appear conservative with a slight hint at the Amish community. These two outfits were pulled from stock then fitted to the actresses.
The man who opened the door was to appear nonthreatening and well dressed. His husband though is described in the script as clad in gay leather. The director wanted something reminiscent of a BDSM relationship and to achieve this there was constant communication between myself, my co-designer, the director and actor to understand and respect the actors comfort level. This look required leather pants to be altered into chaps and a chest harness to be constructed out of leather belts.
Dark King Kills Unicorn
The director for this production wanted a simplistic look for this play about a king killing a unicorn who is protecting the neighboring kingdom. He wanted the symbolism between good and evil to be very clear as the color pallet offered dark and light. Everything was pulled from stock and required little fitting as we were looking for a relaxed feel. We also chose to rely heavily on the make-up and designed what each character should look like on face templates.
Play-script Analysis' final project was to pick a play and design it as if I was the director. There was a paper due as well as a visual piece. The play I picked was Miss Julie by August Strindberg as it is one of my favorites. I knew I wanted a non traditional take on the play and during my research I found many sources that pointed out the fairy-tale aspects of the script. From there I ran with the idea of comparing the story to Little Red Riding Hood and chose for my visual piece to be character renderings.
Miss Julie: I chose to put her in an avant-garde slightly androgynous styled outfit. This androgynous view is caused from the mixed upbringing Julie received from her father and mother. The red half skirt and short cape is to portray the idea of little red riding hood to the audience, playing more into this idea of a fairy tale by using visuals that the audience knows.
Jean: I chose to design Jean's servant uniform in a princely fashion. He needs to appear as the one that could take Julie away to her happier place. However his uniform would still be dirty from the work that he does. And just as Miss Julie has red on her outfit, accents of fur should be placed on his for him to symbolize the wolf in the well-known red riding hood tale.
Kristen: This design is to help signify that Kristen is the witch in this fairy-tale. I designed her costume to be in earthy tones with a simple dress to play into the idea of her being mystical bohemian. The bottom as well as main parts of the dress are torn to show that even though she is of importance she is still just a lowly servant to the Count, Miss Julie's father.
Chorus: Extra actors are to be in soft tutu's with a bohemian style for the dance scene while Miss Julie and Jean sleep together
